Fists - Braid, tampa, crochet
Author: Emma Dahlqvist
The versatile natural material birch has been used for thousands of years but is still today a highly topical and sustainable material for contemporary craftsmanship and design. The fact that birch is now an unused residual material from the forest and wood industry does not make it any less relevant.
Based on the fist's fantastic properties and unique aesthetic expression, the book addresses the basics of fist craft - everything from where and when you find the best material in the forest to how you pick and store it. In about twenty projects, you get to know traditional hand-craft techniques such as tamping and braiding, but also more modern and unconventional techniques such as hand origami.
